Rice Hill is a great hill for wintertime sledding. It also has two ponds for ice skating and a warming hut with wood stove. The hill is fairly long which leads to great sledding runs. There are also several "Multi-use trails" that allow for snow shoeing, hiking or cross-country skiing. Open as conditions permit. Metal-runner sleds prohibited. For conditions and info: 607-387-6739.
Once served by a cantankerous homemade rope tow (a disaster waiting to happen, according to old timers), many visitors now use their cars and the state park access road to shuttle riders from bottom to top. Sound lazy? Not really. Rice Hill is 100 feet high and almost three football fields long. Metal-runner sleds prohibited.
